Invisalign Mountain View & San Jose

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment system that gives you beautiful, straight teeth without traditional metal braces.

Instead, we use clear plastic aligners to move your child's teeth into the correct alignment gradually. Invisalign many of the same alignment problems as traditional braces, from crooked teeth to dental bite issues.

Your child should wear aligners at night and throughout the day, removing them only for meals and brushing and flossing. They are virtually invisible, and most people will never know that your child's wearing them.

Average treatment times are 12 to 18 months, but everyone starts with different needs, so your treatment time may be longer or shorter. Our dentist will work with you and your child to create your customized plan and keep you informed of your progress.

Why Choose Invisalign?

Invisalign has numerous advantages over traditional braces:

  • Traditional braces require appointments to tighten the wires and check the condition of the braces. With Invisalign, you switch to the next set of aligners in the order of treatment laid out by your dentist.
  • Braces can leave permanent marks on your teeth, and even with good oral hygiene, plaque can develop around brackets and damage tooth enamel.
  • Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign allows you to eat any foods you want without restrictions.

The wires of traditional braces can poke at your mouth and cause pain and even injury. In addition, a broken wire often means an additional visit to your dentist or orthodontist.

Who Is a Candidate for Invisalign?

Are you concerned about crooked teeth? Does your child have a prominent overbite or underbite?

Invisalign can treat these common problems and many others, including:

  • Protruding teeth
  • Wide gaps
  • Uneven spacing
  • Crowding
  • Overbite
  • Crossbite

Caring for Invisalign

It is easy to practice good oral hygiene habits during Invisalign. Remove the aligners and brush and floss teeth as usual. Brush your aligners and rinse with warm water or use the Invisalign cleaning kit to keep your aligners in good shape and free from bacteria.

Never use hot water to rinse or clean your aligners, as it can warp the plastic. You should also call our office if your child cracks or damages your aligner in any other way. For example, a cracked aligner will not correctly move teeth and impede progress.

Children should always brush their teeth following a meal before placing aligners back in their mouths. If you don't brush, bacteria become trapped against your teeth, and your aligners can become stained or damaged.

Please contact our office to find out more information. We are happy to schedule a consultation appointment to determine whether Invisalign is a good option for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign is a great option for both adults and teenagers. In fact, Invisalign has a product created specifically for teenagers – Invisalign Teen. So if your teenager needs to have crooked teeth or other dental flaws corrected, call our office and schedule an appointment to discuss Invisalign Teen.

Clear aligners with Invisalign® are an excellent option for busy teens who would like to straighten their teeth without wearing braces.

Invisalign aligners are removable, making brushing, flossing, and eating meals simple. Kids will wear their aligners for two to three weeks, and then move on to the next set in the series. Clear aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day to achieve the best results.

With excellent compliance in wearing their aligners, most teens will finish their treatment in about 10 to 24 months, depending on their needs.

What Are the Advantages of Invisalign?

Here are some of the benefits of Invisalign that many teens love:

  • Discretion — Since aligners are clear, no one notices their orthodontic treatment.
  • Comfort — Clear aligners are smooth and more comfortable to wear than braces.
  • Ease — Home care is simple and efficient with removable aligners, rather than navigating around brackets and wires.
  • Freedom — There are dietary restrictions with clear aligners since they're removable. Your teen can enjoy all the foods they love throughout their Invisalign treatment.

At Forever Smiles Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we make dental visits fun, comfortable, and memorable for children. Families looking for a pediatric dentist in Mountain View, San Jose, Campbell, or Santa Clara love our unique themed dental days.

Throughout the year, we host special events such as Princess Day, Superhero Day, and other themed celebrations. Children are encouraged to dress up, participate in the fun, and enjoy an experience that feels less like going to the dentist and more like visiting an amusement park.

Our themed days are especially helpful for young children and children who may feel nervous or anxious about dental visits. By creating a welcoming and exciting environment, we help children build confidence and develop a positive relationship with dental care.

We believe that positive dental experiences at an early age can lead to lifelong healthy habits. Children who grow up feeling comfortable at the dentist are more likely to become adults who value their oral health, attend regular dental visits, and take excellent care of their teeth.

At Forever Smiles Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, our goal is to make every child’s dental experience positive, fun, and something they can smile about.
